“Lensing took every piece of feedback from accounting practitioners to heart. This is a truly exciting new option for mid-level ERP.”
LENSING VS Sage Intacct
Lensing vs. Sage Intacct: the alternative for multi-entity finance teams
Sage Intacct is a strong accounting system, and your team may know it well. As you add entities, currencies, and contract changes, its modules stop working as one system, and more of your close moves to Excel, partners, and paid add-ons. Lensing runs every entity, contract, and book in one system that you own.

Comparison
Lensing vs. Sage Intacct: key features and differentiators
Sage Intacct was built by accountants, and the accounting is strong. Over 20 years, Sage added contracts, order entry, billing, and budgeting as separate modules. Legacy systems ask a business to break itself into modules, workarounds, and disconnected tools just to be understood by software.
Lensing reverses that. The team behind SAP HANA spent five years building one platform, pairing accountants with enterprise software architects, so your accounting connects to your contracts, billing, and operations by design. Lensing is a complete ERP: inventory, fixed assets, projects, procurement, and HR run in the same system as your books, at the same price.

Subject area expertise
Built by accountants and former controllers, working with enterprise software architects from day one.
Built by accountants. Owned by The Sage Group since 2017.
Consolidation
Consolidated numbers in any report, with no consolidation run. Click any figure to see the transactions, rates, and eliminations behind it.
A consolidation book you run, which posts eliminations and currency translation to a separate elimination entity.
Intercompany
Record an intercompany transaction once; both entities' entries post together.
Automatic elimination for the intercompany payable and receivable accounts you map.
Multi-book
Parallel posted books: each entity keeps local statutory books with its own chart of accounts, rolling up to the group book.
GAAP, tax, and user-defined adjustment books, combined with the primary book when you run a report.
Inventory and assets
Real-time visibility into all your financial data across modules and systems, including HR and people data. Save even more time with AI reporting agents.
Reporting is Rillet's lowest-rated feature on G2.
Multi-book
Parallel posted books—local GAAP per subsidiary, rolling to a consolidated group book, with statutory reporting run on the book’s own basis.
Added August 2026: a secondary book holding adjustments on top of the primary ledger, combined at report time.
Core accounting
Revenue recognition under ASC 606, including subscription, usage, hybrid, and consumption contracts.
Contracts module with ASC 606 and usage-based revenue recognition, licensed as a separate module.
Quote to cash
One contract with one billing schedule. Mid-term changes and co-terming flow through billing, revenue, and reporting.
Contracts, order entry, and invoices are separate records. Changes use manual adjustments, such as negative lines and schedule edits.
Inventory
Serial and batch tracking, landed cost, three-way purchase order matching, and warehouse and intercompany transfers.
Inventory Control module, licensed separately, with lot and serial tracking, landed costs, and warehouse transfers.
Fixed assets
Asset management, with depreciation posted to each of your books.
Fixed Assets Management module, licensed separately.
Projects and services
Professional services automation: projects, time, and services billing on the same contracts and ledger.
Project Accounting and Time and Expense modules, a long-standing Intacct strength.
Procure to pay
Purchase requests and orders, vendor bills with prepaid schedules, and accounts payable close. Vendor payments run through bank files or the payments tool you already use.
Purchasing and accounts payable in core financials, with AP automation and vendor payment options.
HR and people data
HR management, so headcount and people costs land in the ledger.
Payroll and HR through separate Sage products or marketplace integrations.
Cloud cost management
Cloud spend tracked and allocated inside the ERP.
Not among Intacct's listed modules; handled in other tools.
Pricing
One price for the whole system, set by the size and complexity of your business. Users, modules, and support included. Implementation is quoted up front.
Quote-based. Core financials plus separately priced modules, with costs that rise as you add entities and modules.
Implementation and ownership
Implemented by Lensing's own team. You own your instance and can read and change its configuration.
Usually bought and implemented through partners or accounting firms, who often handle configuration changes.
Extensibility
AiSpecify builds custom objects, workflows, and whole applications from a written specification.
Customization through Sage's development platform and a partner marketplace.
AI
More than 15 prebuilt agents across finance and operations, from turning an emailed vendor bill into an approved bill to bank matching, collections, and contract renewals, plus agents you build yourself, all on one data model.
Five named AI agents and AI-assisted reporting, updated each quarter.
Customer Story
Lensing helps finance teams recognize revenue faster
If your team is stuck managing fixed assets, HR costs, and inventory outside of your ERP, it won't scale. At a certain point, that will impede growth. With Lensing, you lessen your reliance on spreadsheets and code your actual processes and workflows into one system of action.
“One of our big challenges prior was constantly having to download spreadsheets and stitch them together to ensure we didn't miss invoices.”
“From handling complex contract modifications to multi-currency journal entries, Lensing simplifies the most intricate accounting processes.”
“Lensing streamlines table-stakes accounting work and giving us tools to be better business partners.”

Lensing is for leaders with global ambitions, whose businesses keep changing shape
Every entity, currency, and book runs on one data model, so the system understands your business instead of asking you to translate it. Your local accountants work in their own books, and your contracts, billing, and revenue stay on one record. You own the system, and your team can change it.
Lensing fits teams that:
- Are adding entities, currencies, or statutory books in the next 18 months
- Need local accountants to keep their books in the same system as the parent
- Have contract changes, usage pricing, or co-terming that make revenue hard to reconcile
- Want to own their system and change it without a paid call
Multi-book and multi-entity.
Post to parallel books rather than layering adjustments over one ledger.
Consolidation without a run
Your consolidated numbers are there whenever you open a report.
Trace every number
Click a consolidated figure to see the transactions, rates, and eliminations behind it.
Intercompany, both sides

Contract changes that flow through
Upgrades, co-terms, and usage changes update billing, revenue, and reporting together.
Revenue beyond subscription
Usage, hybrid, and consumption contracts under ASC 606.

Sage Intacct is for teams that want a proven accounting system, only.
Sage Intacct is mature, widely used accounting software with a clear strength: the accounting itself. Thousands of finance teams know it, auditors know it, and a large partner network implements and supports it. Where the accounting function is most of the finance function, and you run a few entities in one currency, it works well.
Sage Intacct will work well for:
- One entity, or a few in one currency
- Subscription billing with few mid-term changes
- Teams that want to buy and implement through a partner or accounting firm
- Teams that want the largest pool of reviews, consultants, and integrations

Frequently Asked Questions
As well as some infrequently asked ones that are nevertheless quite smart.
Sage Intacct is accounting software with separately licensed modules for contracts, consolidation, multi-currency, and more. Lensing runs those functions in one system: consolidated numbers without a consolidation run, parallel statutory books per entity, and contracts, billing, and revenue on one record. Inventory, fixed assets, projects, procurement, and HR run in the same Lensing system and price, where Intacct offers them as separate modules or marketplace apps. Intacct is usually implemented through partners; Lensing implements its own customers.
Sage Intacct is quote-based. You start with core financials and add modules such as revenue recognition, global consolidations, and multi-currency, each priced separately. When you compare, ask for a quote that includes the entities you'll have at renewal, any API access you need, and the cost of configuration changes.
Yes, for many. Intacct consolidates entities through a consolidation book that you run, and it automatically eliminates the intercompany payables and receivables you map. Teams adding entities, currencies, or statutory books often find more of the work, such as other eliminations and local books, moving to spreadsheets.
Yes. Sage Intacct supports GAAP, tax, and user-defined books. They are adjustment books: you post adjusting entries that combine with your primary book when you run a report. Lensing keeps parallel books, so each transaction posts under each standard and your local team works in its own books. If your statutory reporting runs on adjustments, ask which exchange rates the statutory report uses.
Not always. If you run one or two entities on Intacct's core modules, Intacct can cost less. Lensing is one price for the whole system, with no seats, add-on modules, or support fees, so the comparison changes as you add entities, modules, and users. Lensing provides a more predictable price than Intacct over time.
Switching feels like the risk. With ERP, "outdated" is the risk you're already taking. Teams often time the move to their Intacct renewal, so they don't pay for two systems, and before their next entity or statutory book goes live. If little of your close happens outside Intacct and you aren't adding entities, staying may be the right call.
